Take the Big Blue Test
We need your help! As an awardee of the #BigBlueTest grant, 20,000 tests have to be taken for the sponsor to donate to our Community Diabetes Work and parter Dash Sports Education.
Exercise is good for you. You know that. But did you know that the average Big Blue Tester has seen their blood glucose level drop 20% after 14-20 minutes of exercise?
And if that isn’t enough reason to get active, every time you enter a Big Blue Test you help us get one step closer to our goal of 20,000 entries. If we hit our goal, the program sponsor will donate $100,000 to organizations that provide life-saving supplies and services to people with diabetes in need.
Do the test as often as you can between today and the end of November 14th: www.bigbluetest.org

LIFT - Levántate is coordinating with Walk and Play for Wellness to bring the first ever Bay Area-wide celebration of World Diabetes Day to Marin County. This will be a fun-filled, educational and life saving afternoon of bi-lingual, multi-cultural screenings, testings, consultations, flu shots, educational theater, a walk/run/roll, Yoga and Zumba classes, soccer activities, our famous "smoothie bike", raffles and more, all culminating in the lighting up of the internationally recognized Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center in Diabetes Blue.
Our goal is to create a sustainable, affordable network of resources for prevention, early detection and management of Type 1 and 2 diabetes and raise money for scholarships for low income/high risk children and families for access to diabetes programs around the Bay area.
Admission and services are free to the public!
For sponsor, volunteer and exhibitor opportunities, please call 415-507-1564.

LIFT - Levántate For Teens has been invited by the SF Giants Community Foundation to be a part of their annual FunFest on Sunday August 14, 2011. We'll be in the dugout or on the field using our Smoothie Bike and Wellness Wheel to serve healthy smoothies to 1200 children and teens!

LIFT - Levántate For Teens - Levántate, in partnership with Novogradac & Co. LLP, Marin Organic, Whole Foods Market, and Marin City Community Services District, is producing a community event and fresh produce giveaway. Fresh produce from Green Gulch Farm in West Marin will be picked in the morning and delivered to Marin City residents that same afternoon!
Free Fresh Produce will be distributed Friday, August 12th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Manzanita Senior Center, 640 Drake Ave., Marin City. Recipients will receive a reusable shopping bag full of fresh organic produce, cookbooks & nutrition information, and information on diabetes prevention and healthy living.

In addition to enjoying delicious food, vintage wines and luxurious raffle prizes, attendees of our Fall Benefit Event got a chance to hear LIFT - Levántate Director and media personality Stacy Kaiser give a great presentation: "The 10 Things Every Parent Needs to Know To Raise a Successful Adult", based on her new best-selling book How to Be a Grown Up: The 10 Secret Skills Everyone Needs to Know. Joining Stacy was special guest Harvey E. Walden IV, best known for his role as the "No Excuses" Marine Drill Instructor on Celebrity Fit Club. Harvey also has a new inspirational fitness book called, what else ... No Excuses!
